Content creators must ensure data is safe
On May 24, 2017, experts in data storage and content creation will converge in the land of movie-making, Los Angeles, to tackle the topic of how to store and secure all that valuable IP. Recent hacks, such as that of the NetFix series “Orange is the New Black” and previous hacks of Sony and others have raised awareness of security in particular. At the same time, companies are faced with challenges of offsite vs. onsite storage, cloud offerings and advances in storage technology.
The Creative Storage conference (https://creativestorage.org), brings viewpoints together as well as demonstrations of solutions. Machine learning, artificial intelligence, streaming and other distribution options and metadata will figure prominently in the conference discussions. Security will be addressed as well, including a talk by TCG and BrightTalk’s Robert Thibadeau, a key contributor to now widely implemented industry standards for self-encrypting drives (https://trustedcomputinggroup.org/work-groups/storage/). That session will be held at 3:00 p.m. local time.
Vendors also will talk about 4K storage developments to improve content production and workflow and the implications of virtual reality content on storage requirements.
