Our Core Technologies & Standards

View all Technologies

Block Integrated Trust (BIT)

Brings trusted computing principles to block-level storage, enabling integrity, attestation, and protection of data blocks at the device layer.

Cyber Resilient Technologies (CyRes)

TCG's cyber-resilience technology for protecting persistent code, detecting unexpected states, and recovering platforms to a known trusted state.

Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE)

Device Identifier Composition Engine establishes a unique cryptographic identity for resource-constrained devices and IoT systems with minimal hardware.

Platform Certificates

TCG's provenance artifacts asserting Roots of Trust, Trusted Building Blocks, and component composition for supply-chain assurance and attestation appraisal.

Reference Integrity Manifest (RIM)

Signed, machine-readable reference measurements used to verify a device boots and runs in its expected, trusted state.

Storage Security

TCG's architecture for interoperable security on trusted storage devices: self-encrypting drives, access control, locking, and Opal, Ruby, and Opalite classes.

TPM Software Stack (TSS)

A consistent software interface that lets applications and operating systems interact with TPM hardware across vendors, architectures, and platforms.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

Hardware-based root of trust that securely generates and stores cryptographic keys, attesting to the integrity of the platform it runs on.

TCG Forms Liaison with IIC to Advance IoT Security Standards

TCG Expert Steve Hanna to Speak on Trust, Security and the IoT at IoT Solutions World Congress

Portland, Oregon, Sept. 8, 2015 – The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) today announced a new liaison relationship with the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) to advance the concepts of trust and security in the Internet of Things.

TCG Embedded Systems Work Group Co-chair Steve Hanna, Infineon, will speak on the relationship and the role of trust in securing the IoT at the IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona. His presentation, “How To Secure Billions of Insecure IoT Devices”, is scheduled for Sept. 18, 1:15 pm and will show how TCG’s widely vetted and adopted standards and solutions, including the Trusted Platform Module, can be used to provide integrity, assurance, and health checks to IoT devices and systems.

“As more things become networked, security risks grow. That’s especially true in the industrial Internet,” said Mark Schiller, TCG executive director. “The strong security standards created by TCG are vital to protecting the highly connected world of tomorrow.”

“Top-notch security measures are a major priority for IoT consortia and are necessary to continue the widespread adoption of the Industrial IoT,” said Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director, Industrial Internet Consortium. “It’s important that organizations such as the IIC and TCG share work and leave communication open to ensure interoperability in security standards.”

The Industrial Internet Consortium was founded in March 2014 to bring together the organizations and technologies necessary to accelerate growth of the Industrial Internet by identifying, assembling and promoting best practices, including security.

TCG and the Industrial Internet Consortium plan to share with each other work on security in the Industrial IoT, including definition of requirements and review of applicable standards to ensure interoperability between the two organizations.

TCG recently published an architects guide and guidance for securing the IoT, which can be found here: https://trustedcomputinggroup.org/?e=category.solutionDetail&urlpath=internet_of_things&resource_category_id=8#nav_jump.

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is a not-for-profit organization formed to develop, define and promote open, vendor-neutral, global industry standards, supportive of a hardware-based root of trust, for interoperable trusted computing platforms. TCG welcomes those interested in joining its efforts. Follow TCG on Twitter and on LinkedIn.
