Our Core Technologies & Standards

View all Technologies

Block Integrated Trust (BIT)

Brings trusted computing principles to block-level storage, enabling integrity, attestation, and protection of data blocks at the device layer.

Cyber Resilient Technologies (CyRes)

TCG's cyber-resilience technology for protecting persistent code, detecting unexpected states, and recovering platforms to a known trusted state.

Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE)

Device Identifier Composition Engine establishes a unique cryptographic identity for resource-constrained devices and IoT systems with minimal hardware.

Platform Certificates

TCG's provenance artifacts asserting Roots of Trust, Trusted Building Blocks, and component composition for supply-chain assurance and attestation appraisal.

Reference Integrity Manifest (RIM)

Signed, machine-readable reference measurements used to verify a device boots and runs in its expected, trusted state.

Storage Security

TCG's architecture for interoperable security on trusted storage devices: self-encrypting drives, access control, locking, and Opal, Ruby, and Opalite classes.

TPM Software Stack (TSS)

A consistent software interface that lets applications and operating systems interact with TPM hardware across vendors, architectures, and platforms.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

Hardware-based root of trust that securely generates and stores cryptographic keys, attesting to the integrity of the platform it runs on.

New training course to boost global cybersecurity expertise

Published:
Oct 15, 20243 mins read

Software developers and students can continue to advance their Trusted Platform Module (TPM) skills thanks to the launch of a new training course from the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).

Building on the foundation course launched earlier this year, ‘Trusted Computing 1102: Intermediate TPM Usage’ has been developed by the TCG in conjunction with cybersecurity training experts OpenSecurityTraining2 (OST2). The new course will cover new topics such as using Enhanced System API (ESAPI), understanding Endorsement Hierarchy and Endorsement Key, as well as leveraging Platform Configuration Registers (PCRs) for machine identity and attestation.

“Ensuring that software developers and students can develop their cybersecurity skills and enhance the security of devices is essential for creating a trusted ecosystem,” said TCG President Joe Pennisi. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with OTS2 in providing accessible, in-depth training that empowers the next generation of security experts”.

The new curriculum has been created for students that have either completed the introductory TC1101 course or have equivalent experience working with TPMs. Through comprehensive, hands-on labs, participants will complete 20 practical exercise to give a real-world experience of working with this technology to deepen their understanding of advanced TPM functionalities.

“With TC1102, we have taken the next step to give students and industry professionals the knowledge to effectively implement TPMs in a wide range of applications,” said OST2 Founder Xeno Kovah. “The TPM is the backbone of ensuring trust in a range of digital devices, and it’s a great privilege to have TCG’s continued support in increasing our comprehensive training courses.”

Students participating in TC1102 will also gain valuable access to the TPM.dev Users Group, offering a supportive community and additional learning opportunities in TPM Usage and integration from likeminded individuals.

"TPM 2.0 is becoming a preferred choice in critical IoT and Edge systems, including automotive and medical, because of its unique secure capabilities that do not exist in Secure Elements, like PCRs and TPM 2.0 policy. Both can be applied to the TPM's non-volatile storage and its cryptographic operations,” added TC1102 Instructor and Founder of TPM.dev, Dimi Tomov. “TC1102 enables developers to learn how to use TPM extended authorization like PCR policy to protect cryptographic keys and data against a compromised system."
