Open Access Model Gives Developers and Security Professionals Guide to Securing Devices Using Widely Accepted Trust Models

 

Portland, Ore., Jan. 28, 2015 – Apress, Trusted Computing Group and members IBM, Intel Corporation and The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory today announced the availability of “A Practical Guide to TPM 2.0: Using the Trusted Platform Module in the New Age of Security.”

practical guideThis new open access book, available now, is a primer for developers of embedded systems, drivers and applications; security architects; engineering managers; and non-technical users of security applications on security and TPM concepts as well as how to develop useful apps.

TCG will offer signed print editions of the book to the first 250 attendees of its RSA 2015 session Monday, April 20, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Pacific, Moscone West Rooms 2002/2006.

“Simply put, this book will empower the programming community to do cool things now with the TPM,” said co-author Will Arthur, Intel Corporation. “We ramp up the reader quickly, explaining security concepts, describing TPM 2.0 architecture, and providing coding examples, beginning with very simple concepts and simple code to highly complex concepts and code.”

Co-author Ken Goldman is in the Secure Systems and Hardware department at IBM Research and IBM representative to several Trusted Computing Group work groups and editor of the TPM 1.2 and TPM 2.0 specifications.

Co-author Will Arthur is a senior staff firmware engineer in the Datacenter Engineering Group for Intel Corporation where he leads development of authenticated code modules (ACMs) for Intel ® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel ® TXT).
Co-author David Challener has worked in trusted computing for than a dozen years. He is currently co-chair of the TCG TPM work group; previously he was chair of the TSS work group and has been a member of the group’s technical committee and board of directors.
