TCG Storage Architecture Core Specification Summary

April 2009

Based on the growing number of security breaches involving lost or stolen storage and the continued governmental legislation requiring data security and breach notification, the marketplace is ready for a secure storage solution.

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) has identified storage as a critical element of data security. The Storage Work Group within TCG develops specifications to address the security requirements for storage.

The Trusted Storage Architecture Core Specification developed in the Storage Work Group provides a comprehensive definition of TCG-related functions for a TCG trusted storage device under policy-driven access control. The capabilities of the Storage Device can be configured to conform to the policies of the trusted platform. The controlled features include access to secure storage areas and management of self encrypting drive functions.
