PORTLAND, Dec. 11, 2009 - At the Jan. 5-6 Storage Visions 2010 Conference at the Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, the Trusted Computing Group and its member companies will address critical issues related to data protection and securing data and drives against loss, theft, and unauthorized use. Trusted Computing Group is a Bronze Sponsor of this annual gathering about data protection and storage issues, with Wave Systems hosting a variety of demonstrations.

"Data protection in both clients and the data center continues to be one of the industry's most critical issues, due to increased compliance and other legal guidelines and the growing number of professional attacks," noted Jorge Campello, senior manager of systems and architecture, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies and chairman, Trusted Computing Group's Storage Work Group. "Storage Visions allows vendors and users to experience self-encrypting drives based on TCG specifications and to learn about trends in storage security."

Trusted Computing Group's free, non-proprietary specification supports security services for a variety of storage devices including hard drives, flash, tape and optical devices. These specifications give vendors a blueprint for developing self-encrypting storage devices (e.g., hard drives) that lock data, can be immediately and completely erased, and can be optionally combined with the Trusted Platform Module, or TPM, for safekeeping of security credentials.

Campello will participate in the panel, "Finding, Protecting and Using Content," Session B1, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on January 5, 2010.

In the exhibit area in Booth #4, demonstrations will include a FIPS 140-2-certified self-encrypting drive, various self-encrypting hard disk drives, a self-encrypting solid state drive and centralized set-up and management of these drives.
