Wallyworld or Bust: A Slew of TCG Speakers Head to Orlando to Talk Trusted Computing, Cybersecurity for the NSA Trusted Computing Conference and Expo
In a few short weeks, the faux fun of Orlando will be invaded by the most real and serious of issues in computing and national security: cybersecurity. The National Security Agency (NSA) will host-- for the second year-- its Trusted Computing Conference and Expo. For those wondering if Trusted Computing is "real" or in use, please come visit on September 20-22 as hundreds of knowledgeable experts discuss not only the "what" of Trusted Computing but the "how" and "why."
With the guiding theme of "Using COTS Technologies to Deliver Decisive Defensive Advantage", the emphasis will be on what enterprises and government agencies, contractors and integrators can do now to lock down their systems, networks and data with existing technologies, tools and products.
NSA's leaders in the topic will keynote each of the three days alongside executives from Cisco, McAfee, Microsoft, Google and others. For the first year NSA has put together a Trusted Computing Basics track, which will provide the fundamentals of the hardware root of trust/Trusted Platform Module, data protection and self-encrypting drives, and network security and the Trusted Network Connect architecture.
For attendees already versed in those key technologies, more detailed sessions will offer Real World Examples of Trusted Computing, the Business Case for deployment, developers' tracks and a tantalizing look at Emerging Technologies.
Topics to be addressed include security automation, SCADA security, integrating physical access control with IT networks and security, the hows and whys of self-encrypting drives and the role of trust in cloud security.
A number of emerging topics and issues, including virtualization, embedded systems security and extending the usefulness of the Trusted Platform Module will be addressed, for the first time, during the conference.
Finally, Dr. Thomas Coughlin of Coughlin Associates will deliver the first forecast of self-encrypting drives and analysis of that market segment.
A number of demos will illustrate various Trusted Computing technologies in TCG's Booth #401 and in member companies' booths. Stay tuned for details.
