You Asked, We Answered: Qs & As from the TCG/Information Week Webcast April 26
Trusted Computing Group (TCG) with Information Week recently sponsored the webcasts "Automate to Win: A Business Case for Standards-Based Security," with Steve Hanna of TCG and Juniper Networks and Craig Dupler, Boeing. The archived webcast can be found at

In that webcast, Boeing's Craig Dupler described in detail a fascinating example of using Trusted Network Connect and IF-MAP in its enormous factories to ensure security. You can read more about that in a previous post at:
During the webcast, attendees had some great questions about the TNC architecture and its IF-MAP (Metadata Access Point) and how TNC and IF-MAP are implemented. The complete Q&A has been rolled up and is available here.
A few highlights from the Q&A:
- Users were interested in tools for implementing IF-MAP themselves. Several such tools are available at http://www.if-map.org/en/available-products.html and at http://www.ifmapdev.com
- Attendees were interested in Boeing's take on costs for a dynamic, automated security implementation and on how often companies should conduct security audits.
- Many attendees asked about how and where to get products supporting TCG's TNC and IF-MAP specifications and if their vendor does not offer them, how to get them. A number of products do support TNC. More info on how and details is at http://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/solutions/network_security/.
- Some attendees wondered about the usage of the TPM in TNC deployments. More information about the TPM can be found on TCG's site @ http://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/solutions/authentication. The TPM is complementary to the TNC deployments and users can use their TPMs to further secure their clients and networks.
