Information Week Webinar Addresses Data Protection and Self-Encrypting Drives

by TCG in Action

On Thursday, November 18, 2010, 11:00 am Pacific / 2:00 pm East, TCG and Information Week will host a webinar to address protecting mission-critical information. Participants include Paul Korzeniowski, Contributing Editor, Information Week along with Mike James, Director of SoC Development, Toshiba and Michael Willett, Storage Security Strategist, Samsung.

The webcast is titled "Where is your Data Tonight? A Lesson in Avoiding Headlines, Fines or Worse."

Since 2005, 510,545,641 potentially sensitive records have been lost, stolen or mishandled. A slew of regulations now require breach notification, meaning enterprises must practice strong data protection. What role does encryption play in protecting data, and how is hardware-based encrypting different from alternatives? This session will review key concepts of encryption, industry standards from the Trusted Computing Group for hardware-based encryption, and deploying such drives in the enterprise. Experts will advise attendees on results of testing of hardware vs. software encryption and discuss key management and TCO. Bring your questions and learn how to prevent costly and embarrassing data breaches and resulting notification.
