In the Exhibit Area: TCG in Action at the NSA Trusted Computing Conference and Exposition, Orlando, FL
In addition to the interesting and informative presentation, the exposition had a lot of booth traffic that was strong until the very end. TCG-member exhibitors and attendees were quite pleased with the turn-out and interest level of the conference participants.
Darren Lasko, Principal Engineer, SoC Development at the Storage Device Division of Toshiba gave a couple of presentations on OPAL Secure Drive Technology developed using Trusted Computing Group standards. He said, "The main thing that I have noticed is the extremely high level of interest from the government, especially the NSA, and they seem to really want to adopt this technology and drive it to their customers so that they'll have protection of data at rest."
"One of the interesting things that I have heard that has really enthused me regarding trusted computing is some of the work that is directed towards the lower level embedded space, where I believe that the need for secure endpoints is starting to emerge, especially SCADA/ Smart Grid types of environments," explained Chris Daly Security Strategist, IBM Corporate Security Strategy Team.
Bill Ross, director Cyber Mission a\Assurance Systems, Information Assurance Division for General Dynamics C4 Systems who spoke earlier in the week said, "This show has really been an eye opener in terms of the buzz and some of the wide-spread industry support for the standards and the initiatives coming out of the Trusted Computing Group."
