Gartner Group Focuses on Security & Risk Management at DC - Area Event Next Week

by TCG in Action

Next week, security vendors and IT managers and others will meet at the June 21-23 Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, National Harbor, Md. From Gartner: "The Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit features four programs focusing on Security, Risk Management and Compliance, Business Continuity Management, and chief information security officer (CISO) roles to deliver detailed, role-specific content and networking. Each program offers a full agenda of analyst sessions, keynotes, round-table discussions, case studies, workshops and more."

Trusted Computing Group has participated in a number of these so we can show the IT community today's leading-edge security solutions. This year, in TCG booth # 49, a great demo hosted by Juniper Networks will address data leakage tied to network access control. In summary, TNC interfaces enable location, identity, endpoint health, and behavior-based access control decisions for users in an enterprise environment, along with detection and remediation of illicit activity such as data leakage by an endpoint.

The demo will include an IF-MAP (Metadata Access Control) server, a policy decision point and a MAP client. Two TNC interfaces are showcased:

1. IF-PEP enables dynamic admission control and assignment of endpoints to the appropriate VLAN.

2. IF-MAP enables integration of network intelligence from additional security systems to add a behavioral consideration to the access decision.

More info on TCG's IF-MAP protocol and TNC are available on the Trusted Network Connect Developers Page.

Also at the event, TCG member Wave Systems will demonstrate hardware-based full disk encryption. Wave Systems has partnered with leading drive manufacturers Samsung and Seagate to offer the easiest-to-use and most secure full disk encryption solution available. OPAL compliant encrypting drives protect data where it lives - on the hard drive, by taking advantage of its closed environment to isolate data storage for stronger protection. Wave's EMBASSY® Remote Administration Server allows IT to manage drive security policies, credentials and access rights from one central location. This demo will showcase how an encrypting drive can be initialized and configured in minutes, using Wave's software. More Information on self-encrypting drives and the TCG OPAL specifications are available on the TCG Web site.
