What's New in Networking, or the Attack of the Killer Sharks: Interop Las Vegas 2010 is Coming!
On April 25th or so, a horde of bright, earnest and hard-working tech folks will descend on Sin City for Interop Las Vegas 2010. Amid the glitz of the brass and marble of Mandalay Bay, somewhere beyond the wedding chapel, the high-priced Food Network chefs' outpost and before you hit the shark exhibit, hundreds of the tech industry's most innovative vendors will set up shop to convince bleary-eyed IT buyers that they need the latest in firewalls, appliances, routers and the like. The networking folks aren't known as the biggest gamblers nor are they attired in the latest Gucci gear, but if you are into networking, security and enterprise computing, there is some really cool stuff there.
One of the hot spots will be the Trusted Computing Group booth, #1163. Last year, attendees mobbed this booth to get the first look at what TCG called "TNC Everywhere: Pervasive Security." For the first time, we showed how trusted computing is embedded throughout the enterprise to secure data and networks. Self-encrypting drives were shown in clients and in the data center. Physical access linked to network access was demonstrated. And security for widely-used SCADA industrial networks was shown. All of these demos can be viewed on the TCG site, http://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/resources/interop_las_vegas_2009_press_kit.
We are upping the ante this year to include all of that and more. TCG's IF-MAP (Metadata Access Protocol) will shine in a series of new demos that show IT users how coordinated, end-to-end security from the front door to the data center can be implemented. New products will showcase key capabilities. Watch for updates on these exciting demos!
